Caritas SED Galle after the tsunami devastation has developed an integrated program including immediate relief, medical assistance, housing both temporary and permanent, rehabilitation and reconstruction of community infrastructure facilities, livelihood recovery support, education and capacity building etc. The main goal of these programs was to create a better tomorrow for the tsunami victims.

After the closure of the tsunami relief, rehabilitation and development projects, Caritas SED Galle has developed a new strategic plan for next seven years in collaboration with Caritas Sri Lanka. Several Projects are being implemented by Caritas SED Galle as mentioned below:

1. Integral Human Development Project (2010 to 2012)

i) Social Justice and Sustainable Peace,
ii) Community Based Disaster Management
iii) Livelihood Improvements
iv) Psychosocial Support

2. Under Caritas Scotland Project (2010 Jan to 2010 Dec) - Upliftment of the livelihood of widows, and differently-abled women headed families in the Southern Province.

3. Caritas Corea Livelihood Improvement Project (2009 to 2012)

4. Caritas Corea Community Health Care Project (2007 to date)

5. Scholarship Programs for students

Demands for donor funding has increased to address different disasters all over the world and the funds for Sri Lanka has been restricted and since availability of funds from the donors are insufficient for the successful implementation of these projects, Caritas SED Galle designed a fund raising project under the name of “Caritas Southern Travels”.

Caritas Southern Travels is a fund raising effort of Caritas SED Galle for the better implementation of humanitarian assistance in the Southern Province. The objectives of Caritas Southern Travels are as follows:

1. To provide reliable and better transport service to the customers at reasonable and affordable rates.

2. To raise revenue for the implementation of Caritas SED Galle's humanitarian activities in the Southern Province.

3.To create job opportunities for the unemployed.

Under this Project Caritas SED Galle has recruited a Transport Manager, Administrative Assistant and four drivers and a helper.
