| In its mission in Southern province, Caritas SED Galle has been conducting many programs to alleviate the poverty in South to make a better tomorrow. The animation concept of Caritas is been practicing to empower the marginalized communities in the area. The concept of this livelihood improvement project came up through the members of Caritas SED Galle small group members as they were interesting to improve their livelihoods and make strong as marginalized social groups. |

| The tsunami disaster very badly destroyed the micro enterprise sector on the coastal belt of Sri Lanka. Most of the effected people were engaged in numerous small scale micro enterprises as sources of income generation. Caritas SED Galle has placed an emphasis on restoring these micro enterprises so destroyed. |

| The main objective of the Project on Pre-Departure and post Arrival Assistance for Sri Lankan Women Migrant Workers to Middle East Region is to provide them proper advice for safe migration by developing their knowledge, support the victimized migrant workers to solve their problems and help the returnees for livelihood improvement. |

We distributed responsibilities as a group. We obtained the help of every one, elders and children. Unskilled labour was provided by villagers and members of the group. Masons in the village worked voluntarily 03 days without any payment. Villagers gave tea, meals etc. Timber required for scaffoldings were provided free by villagers. We purchased only building materials required.

They are nine women who lived closer to each other in the same street named Pallimulla, Linda Para (Well Street) in Matara. Though their husbands are employed these nine women too were contributing their family income by various types of self employments, but unfortunately all their wealth was washed away in few minutes with the experience of Tsunami.

One day in the year 2011, Mrs. G. M. B. Chithra, 61 years of age, the mother of Imalka came to meet Rev. Fr. Damian Arsakularatne, the director of Caritas SED Galle with tears in her eyes. She came to explain about the sufferings undergone by her daughter Imalka who is employed as a house maid in Kuwait. She has phones her mother and informed her that she is undergoing lots of hardships.
